Science and Innovation Week is the week of 4 to 17 November in Madrid. The scheduled activities include two guided tours of Fundación Juanelo Turriano, on 4 and 5 November, where visitors can learn about the foundation’s work and heritage, especially its collection of historic books.

Reservations are required and may be booked over this link starting 21 October.

Fundación Juanelo Turriano reminds candidates that the deadline for submitting applications for the second edition of Pedro Navascués Prize for PhD theses is 20 December 2024.

Topics must be confined to the history of engineering. All branches and eras are eligible. Papers relating to the Foundation’s career will receive preference in scoring.

The exhibition Stone Bridges is open until 20 December.
This show, which is set up in the hall of the academic offices of the School of Civil Engineering of Madrid at the Technical University of Madrid (first floor) and is organised by the School Library, is the first of a series devoted to bridges and the materials they are made of, from stone to wood to metal. These exhibitions will offer a look back through history through the landmark bridges in the library’s valuable historical collection.

Admission is free.

On 5 October last, at the institutional ceremony held during the annual engineering celebration organised by the Chartered Institute of Industrial Engineers (COGITI) of Toledo, the fourth Juanelo Turriano Prize was awarded to the University of Castilla la Mancha’s School of Engineering.
Fundación Juanelo Turriano contributed to the ceremony with a selection of books about Toledo to be awarded to the prizewinning institution.
