Pedro Navascués Prize for PhD theses. Second edition

Fundación Juanelo Turriano reminds candidates that the deadline for submitting applications for the second edition of Pedro Navascués Prize for PhD theses is 20 December 2024.

Topics must be confined to the history of engineering. All branches and eras are eligible. Papers relating to the Foundation’s career will receive preference in scoring.

Gracias a… Pedro Navascués. Academia, Historia y Patrimonio [Thanks to… Pedro Navascues. Academy, History and Heritage], a book written in homage to Pedro Navascués Palacio, a fellow of the academy and chairman of the Monuments and Historic Heritage Commission, will be presented on 30 September at noon in the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts’ Guitarte Hall.

Pedro Navascués was president of Fundación Juanelo Turriano from 2020 until his death.

Peoples, Places, Exchanges, and Circulation
The deadline for submitting papers for the 52nd ICOHTEC Symposium is 1 March 2025.

The symposium, whose theme is Peoples, Places, Exchanges, and Circulation, will be held from 29 June to 5 July 2025 at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand, as part of the 27th International Congress of the History of Science and Technology (ICHST).

Del agua y las máquinas. Los 21 libros de los ingenios [On Water and Machines. The 21 Books of Devices]

The first showing of the documentary Del agua y las máquinas. Los 21 libros de los ingenios [On Water and Machines. The 21 Books of Devices] took place at the Residencia de Estudiantes on 17 September. The film is an episode of season two of the series Tesoros y fantasmas de la ciencia española [Treasures and Ghosts of Spanish Science], directed by Paco and Juan Pimental.

One of the film’s participants is Daniel Crespo, a professor at the Complutense University of Madrid and a researcher at Fundación Juanelo Turriano, where part of the documentary was filmed.
