2024 Turriano ICOHTEC Prize
The 2024 Turriano-ICOHTEC Prize for young historians, organised by ICOHTEC and sponsored by Fundación Juanelo Turriano, was awarded jointly to two authors, Francesco d’Amaro for his book Antipatriotas del agua. Conflictos y grupos de interés en el Franquismo [Antipatriots of water. Conflicts and interest groups in Francoism] and James Ward for his book Visions of a Digital Nation. Market and Monopoly in British Communications.
 
Artifex. Ingeniería romana [Artifex. Roman Engineering]. Travelling exhibition in Talavera de la Reina

The travelling exhibition entitled Artifex. Ingeniería romana en España [Artifex. Roman Engineering in Spain] opened on 4 July in the Rafael Morales Cultural Centre in Talavera de la Reina, where it will remain open to the public until August end.

The exhibition is organised in cooperation with the Centre for Public Works Studies and Experimentation (CEDEX) – Centre for Historic Studies on Public Works and Urban Planning (CEHOPU) and is open to visitors free of charge.

Agustín de Betancourt exhibit. Videos

The videos made for the exhibit Agustín de Betancourt 1758-1824. Founder of the School of Civil Engineering, cosmopolitan engineer are now available on our Foundation’s YouTube channel.

The exhibition was on display in the National Library of Spain from 7 March to 16 June 2024.

Pedro Navascués Prize for PhD theses. Second edition

The Fundación Juanelo Turriano would like to issue a reminder that papers can be submitted for the second edition of the Pedro Navascués Prize for PhD theses until 20 December 2024.

Topics must be confined to the history of engineering. All branches and eras are eligible. Papers relating to the Foundation’s career will receive preference in scoring.

Fifteenth Sociedad Española de Historia de las Ciencias y de las Técnicas Congress

Papers for the Fifteenth Congress of the Sociedad Española de Historia de las Ciencias y de las Técnicas  (Spanish Society for the History of Science and Technology) may be submitted until September 2024.

The congress, whose topic is From local to global. Science and technology in Asturias, Spain and the world, will be held in Gijón from 18 to 25 June 2025.
