The Fundación Juanelo Turriano is accepting entries for the second Pedro Navascués Prize for PhD. theses.

Topics must be confined to the history of engineering. All branches and eras are eligible. Papers relating to the Foundation’s career will receive preference in scoring.

The entry submission deadline is 20 December 2024.

The exhibit Agustín de Betancourt, 1758-1824. Founder of the School of Civil Engineering. Cosmopolitan Engineer has been held over until 16 June.

The show was designed by Fundación Juanelo Turriano and organized by the National Library of Spain, the Regional Government of the Canary Islands, the Puerto de la Cruz City Council, the Technical University of Madrid, the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineers and the Centre for Public Works Studies and Experimentation-CEDEX. It has had over 23,000 visitors.

Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) and the Fundación FHECOR have organized a seminar entitled The Culture of Bridges, which is scheduled to be held in the Palacio de la Magdalena in Santander on 15 and 16 July 2024.

The seminar will be directed by Francisco Javier León, a member of the Foundation’s Advisory Commission. Fundación Juanelo Turriano trustee Inmaculada Aguilar will be one of the participants.

The Fundación Eduardo Torroja is holding an international idea competition to design a poster announcing and commemorating the ninetieth anniversary of the founding of the Instituto Eduardo Torroja, which now goes by the name of Instituto Eduardo Torroja de Ciencias de la Construcción.

Those interested in competing have until 18 June to e-mail the contact address given in the rules in order to preregister. Preregistration is free of charge.

The poster submission deadline is 28 June 2024.
