The Chartered Institute of Civil Engineers of Madrid will hold its annual awards ceremony to recognise members’ professional merits on 5 June at 6:00 PM in the institute’s Betancourt Auditorium.

José María Goicolea, Fundación Juanelo Turriano president, has been honoured with the medal for professional excellence.

To mark the ninetieth anniversary of the foundation of the Centre for Hydrographic Studies and the seventieth anniversary of the death of its first director, Manuel Lorenzo Pardo, the book Ciencia y agua. Manuel Lorenzo Pardo, ingeniero hidráulico [Science and water. Manuel Lorenzo Pardo, hydraulic engineer] will be presented on Wednesday, 14 June, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, in the auditorium of the Centre for Hydrographic Studies, which is affiliated with the Centre for Public Works Studies and Experimentation (CEDEX).

The event is open to the public free of charge, but registration in advance is required.

The deadline for submitting abstracts for the Fifth Spanish-American Congress and Thirteenth National Congress on the History of Construction is extended until 4 June. The congress will be held in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, on 19 to 23 March 2024.

Submissions are now being accepted for the nineteenth Demetrio Ribes Research Prize, created to further, promote and disseminate research related with the history of transport, the history of public works, the civil engineering heritage or the history of land management.
