The exhibition Fortress and the City. 29 scale models, organised by Fundación Juanelo Turriano at Madrid’s Centro Conde Duque, closed on 9 January last. Since it opened to the public on 29 September 2021 it attracted 14 484 visitors.

Fundación Juanelo Turriano thanks all the people who, despite the exceptional circumstances imposed by the pandemic, visited and helped publicise our showing.

Fundación Juanelo Turriano also gratefully acknowledges all the institutions whose contributions made the showing and its catalogue possible.

Papers are now being admitted for the Turriano ICOHTEC Prize 2022, organised by the International Committee for the History of Technology (ICOHTEC).

The awardee paper will receive a  2500-euro prize funded by Fundación Juanelo Turriano and will be read at ICOHTEC’s 49^th Symposium, a virtual event scheduled for 2022.

The deadline for submitting papers is 28 February 2022.

Fundación Juanelo Turriano wishes to congratulate Nelson Arellano-Escudero on his recent appointment as ICOHTEC Secretary General.

The judges’ decision will be published on this website.

The book Ingeniería, cultura y territorio [Engineering, culture and territory), a book authored by Carlos Nárdiz, was presented at the Betancourt Auditorium on 24 January.

This new book contains a collection of articles published under the author’s signature in journals dealing with civil engineering from 1981 to 2019.
