The exhibition Fortress and the City. 29 scale models, organised by Fundación Juanelo Turriano, opened on 29 September at Madrid’s Centro Conde Duque. 

Director General of Libraries, Archives and Museums Emilio del Río Sanz, Foundation President Pedro Navascués Palacio and Director Bernardo Revuelta Pol, the exhibition curators, participated in the ceremony.

The presentation was followed by a guided tour.

A catalogue for the exhibition Fortresses and the city. 29 scale models with articles by 14 authors has been edited by its curators.

A foreword with a brief history of fortress modelling from its remotest origins to the Enlightenment serves as an introduction to individual studies of the scale models on display, with nearly 250 illustrations.

The catalogue can be purchased for €30 at Marcial Pons, a bookstore sited at Plaza del Conde del Valle de Suchil, 8, Madrid, or through Fundación Juanelo Turriano.
