Revista de Museología
The Revista de Museología, published by the Asociación Española de Museólogos, dedicated issues 80 and 81 to engineering museums.

Fundación Juanelo Turriano Director Bernardo Revuelta Pol and Daniel Crespo Delgado, professor at the Complutense University of Madrid and foundation researcher, contributed with three articles: Ingeniería, museos, exposiciones e instituciones privadas [Engineering, museums, exhibitions and private institutions]; Exposición Sueño e Ingenio. Libros de ingeniería civil en España del Renacimiento a las Luces, [Dreams and ingenuity, civil engineering books in Spain from the Renaissance to the Enlightenment, an exhibition]; and Ingeniería civil, patrimonio y museos. Una relación con futuro [Civil engineering, heritage and museums, relationship with a future].

Fundación Juanelo Turriano grant, open for candidacies

Fundación Juanelo Turriano reminds all concerned that the deadline for applying for its 2021-2022 grants for PhD. theses is 16 September next.

To qualify, theses must deal with the history of science or engineering: proposals for research on architecture or hydraulic, civil or mechanical engineering will benefit from particular consideration.

Decease of José Antonio Torroja Cavanillas
Civil engineer José Antonio Torroja Cavanillas died on 14 July 2021. Former Dean of the University of Barcelona and University of Madrid Schools of Civil Engineering, he also presided the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineers for 12 years, from 1988 to 2000.

Fernando Sáenz Ridruejo, foundation trustee, authored the remembrance of José Antonio Torroja’s life reproduced below.

The lecture Ingenios y máquinas para Felipe II, príncipe del Renacimiento [Artefacts and machines for Philip II, Renaissance prince] is now available online.

This lecture was one of the series entitled Madrid, ingenuity and engineering organised around the exhibition El ingenio al servicio del poder. Los códices de Leonardo da Vinci en la corte de los Austrias [Ingenuity at the service of political power: Leonardo da Vinci’s codices at the Augsburg court] held in Madrid from 16 February to 16 May.
