The engineer’s books. New release

A new volume in the Juanelo Turriano Lectures on the History of Engineering collection is now available online from our library. Los libros del ingeniero [The engineer’s books] compiles the lectures delivered on the occasion of a 2019 outreach course co-organised by Spain’s National Distance University and Fundación Juanelo Turriano.

The lectures anthologised in this book analyse the many problems posed around the role of books and libraries in the training, careers and social status of Modern Age engineers. They provide a complex but insightful view of the world of military and civil engineering from the sixteenth through the early nineteenth centuries.
