On 18 March, the Chartered Institute of Architects of Madrid awarded honorary memberships to Pedro Navascués Palacio and other dignitaries in the fields of art, culture and engineering.

Pedro Navascués is Vice-President of our foundation’s Board of Trustees.

The Royal Academy of Engineering and its co-sponsor, Fundación Pro Rebus Academiae, are pleased to announce the tenth edition of the Agustín de Betancourt and Juan López de Peñalver prizes for researchers or professionals who have made original and significant contributions to any of the branches of engineering.

The deadline for receiving candidacies is 31 May 2019.

Two new volumes in the collection Técnica e Ingeniería en España will be presented at the Royal Academy of Engineering on 26 March: Del noventayochismo al desarrollismo [From turn-of-the-century renovation to economic development policy] and Trazas y reflejos culturales externos, 1898-1973 [Traces and reflections of foreign culture, 1898-1973].

The books will be presented by Javier Aracil Santonja, Antoni Roca Rosell and collection editor Manuel Silva Suárez.

A summer course entitled ‘Conservation of twentieth century architectural heritage. Criteria and experiences in Spain and Latin America’, will be delivered from 8 to 18 July at the Technical University of Madrid’s School of Architecture under the leadership of Fernando Vela Cossio.
