The exhibition Historic mock-ups and scale models. Engineering and construction closed on 17 September.

Fundación Juanelo Turriano is grateful to Conde Duque Centre and all the institutions that lent their models for a showing that provided the public at large with an overview of 2000 years of Spanish and European engineering.

The exhibition drew over 21 000 visitors in its 3 month run (from 7 June) at Madrid’s Conde Duque Centre.

Cristiano Zanetti has just published his Janello Torriani and the Spanish Empire: a Vitruvian Artisan at the Dawn of the Scientific Revolution.

Author of a number of works on Juanelo Turriano and winner of the seventh edition of the García-Diego International Prize, Zanetti recently curated an exhibition at Cremona entitled Janello Torriani, genio del Rinascimento.

The seminar La recuperación de la modernidad en la ingeniería. El legado de la ingeniería civil en el siglo XX [Recovering engineering modernity, the legacy of twentieth century civil engineering] was held at Madrid’s Círculo de Bellas Artes on 26 September.

With Miguel Aguiló, César Lanza, Inmaculada Aguilar and César Portela as speakers, the event was presided by Juan A. Santamera, President of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineers, and moderated by Carlos Nárdíz of the institute’s Cities, Territory and Culture Committee.
