The ninth book of the series Lecciones Juanelo Turriano de Historia de la Ingeniería [Juanelo Turriano Lectures on the History of Engineering] is now available in Fundación Juanelo Turriano’s Digital Library.

It reproduces the lectures delivered in 2016 on the occasion of the course entitled La palabra y la imagen. Tratados de ingeniería’ entre los siglos XVI y XVIII [Words and pictures, engineers’ treatises from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries] co-organised by the National Distance University and Fundación Juanelo Turriano.

The deadline for applying for the 2017-2018 edition of our PhD. grants for dissertations dealing with the history of science or engineering is 18 September next. Particular consideration will be given to applications for research on history of architecture or hydraulic, civil or mechanical engineering.

David Mencías Carrizosa, Fundación Juanelo Turriano PhD. grantee (2014-2015 edition), was awarded summa cum laude honours for his thesis on analytical geometry as a tool for analysing the structure of historic masonry walls.

The dissertation, supervised by Pepa Cassinello Plaza (Technical University of Madrid) and Ignacio Payá Zaforteza (Polytechnic University of Valencia), was defended at the Madrid School of Architecture on 30 June last.

The Madrid Chapter of the Chartered Association of Civil Engineers announces the tenth edition of its public works awards.

Infrastructure works in particular, completed in the region of Madrid preferably in the last 2 years, are eligible.

The deadline for submitting proposals in the various categories is 18 September 2017.

Payment for publishing papers to be read at the ReUSO Congress 2017 must be received by 17 July next.

The Congress, to be held in Granada from 18 to 21 October 2017, is open to researchers studying the reuse of the architectural and urbanistic heritage as well as cultural and industrial landscapes, from an interdisciplinary, scientific and global perspective.
