Más allá del arco. Puentes de la modernidad. [Beyond the arch: modernist bridges]. Opening

Ms Ana Pastor, acting Minister of Public Works, cut the ribbon for the exhibition Más allá del arco: puentes de la modernidad [Beyond the arch: modernist bridges] on 9 February last.

Organised by CEDEX (Centre for Public Works Studies and Experimentation)-CEHOPU (Centre for Historic Studies on Public Works and Urban Planning), the exhibition includes a selection of works on loan from the Fundación Juanelo Turriano library.

It will remain open to the public, cost-free, through 3 April at the Ministry of Public Works headquarters, ‘Arquerías’ hall, Madrid.

43rd ICOHTEC Congress. New deadline for submitting papers

The International Committee for the History of Technology has extended the deadline for submitting papers to its 43rd Congress (Oporto, 26-30 July 2016), Technology, innovation and Sustainability: historical and contemporary narratives.

The new deadline is 29 February 2016.

That date is also the deadline for submitting papers to the 44th ICOHTEC symposium, to be held jointly with the 25th International Congress of the History of Science and Technology at Rio de Janeiro on 23-29 July 2017.

The ICOHTEC/CIUHCT Summer School, organised by the International Committee for the History of Technology (ICOHTEC)) and the Portuguese Interuniversity Centre for the History of Science and Technology (CIUHCT), will be delivered on 23-25 July 2016. The courses, scheduled around ICOHTEC’s 43rd annual congress, feature three days of intensive seminars for doctoral students and recent PhD. graduates.

The deadline for registering is 29 February 2016.

The forthcoming issue of the journal Cuaderno de Notas, published by the Madrid School of Architecture’s (ETSAM) Composition Department, will be devoted entirely to the industrial architectural heritage.

The deadline for submitting papers is 15 April.
