De Re Metallica. Adjournment of summer course

The summer course entitled De Re Metalica, ingeniería, hierro y arquitectura (Engineering, iron and architecture), organised by the Fundación Juanelo Turriano and the Madrid School of Architecture, came to a close on 17 July. Held under the leadership of Pedro Navascués Palacio and coordinated by Bernardo Revuelta Pol, the course was attended by 21 students.

The lectures delivered will be published in the collection entitled Lecciones Juanelo Turriano de Historia de Ingeniería (Juanelo Turriano Lectures on the history of engineering).  

Enlightenment waterworks. Programme on channel TVE2

The Spanish National Distance University’s (UNED) television programme Obras Hidráulicas de la Ilustración (Enlightenment waterworks) was aired on channel TVE2 on 17 July. Alicia Cámara Muñoz, UNED full professor, and Bernardo Revuelta Pol, Fundación Juanelo Turriano Director, moderated.

The Governing Board of the Madrid Chapter of the Chartered Association of Civil Engineers has announced the 2015 edition of its prizes, which will be awarded in the following categories:

Best public works
Best municipal works
Best engineering project abroad
Social responsibility and sustainability
Journalism
Young civil engineer
Outstanding civil engineer

The deadline for submitting candidacies is 18 September.

The School and the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineers. Exhibition

The Granada School of Civil Engineering’s exhibition entitled The School and the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineers opened on 18 June. On display is the collection of printed material donated by the Andalusian, Ceuta and Melilla Chapter of the School of Civil Engineers to the University of Granada, supplemented by other graphic documents and technical materials produced by civil engineers throughout history.

The exhibition will be open to the public until 30 November.
