News View All Turriano-Icohtec Prize 2017 Icohtec The Turriano-ICOHTEC Prize for young historians, sponsored by Fundación Juanelo Turriano, was awarded to Dr Brice Cossart for his thesis Les artilleurs et la Monarchie Catholique: Fondements technologiques et scientifiques d'un empire transocéanique [The Gunners and the Catholic Monarch War: Technology and Science in the Shaping of a Transoceanic Empire], defended at the European University Institute at Florence in 2016. The awards ceremony was held on the occasion of the 44th ICOHTEC Symposium at Río de Janeiro, 23-29 July 2017. The judges, presided by Jeremy R. Kinney (Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum), included Yoel Bergman (Cohen Institute, Tel-Aviv University), Irina Gouvezitch (Centre Maurice Halbwachs École Normale Supérieure) and Klaus Staubermann (National Museums of Scotland).
