Devices and machines Philip II Exhibitions This exhibition focused on the reign of the most prominent of Spain’s Habsburg monarchs, who ruled during the European Renaissance. It was organised in conjunction with the State Society for the Commemoration of the Centenaries of King Philip II and King Charles V. It opened at Madrid’s Botanical Gardens, where it received over 100 000 visitors between 10 September and 10 November 1998.
